I believe it's important for voters in the Elk Creek Fire Protection District (ECFPD) to have access to factual information about the Elk Creek FPD. The links below provide that factual information:
The Benefits of Unification to Residents of Elk Creek FPD:
- Six more career Fire/EMS personnel staffing an additional station 24x7.
- A larger set of resources will reduce reliance on mutual aid and improve response times.
- A unified command and control system to reduce response times and provide a coordinated large-scale response to wildfires
- North Fork and Inter-Canyon FPDs contributed about $3M in reserves to Conifer Fire. Those reserves would be available to serve residents in the current Elk Creek FPD with Unification. Think of it as potentially two more fire engines available to serve residents in Elk Creek FPD.
- A larger budget dedicated to Fire, EMS, and Wildland Services
- A larger mitigated wildland area to reduce wildland-fire risk
Unification is not the same as Consolidation:
- The Mill Levy does not increase to 16 Mills.
- Hiring fewer full-time fire and EMS personnel with Unification, only 6 new positions instead of 18.
- ECFPD Station #1 remains staffed 24x7 as it is currently – no change.
- One additional 24x7 staffed Fire Station, not two
- No new buildings, no major renovations, no new Head Quarters
