Unification

Here’s a quick summary of the benefits to residents of ECFPD of Unification:

  • North Fork and Inter-Canyon FPDs contributed about $3M in reserves to Conifer Fire, and no debt. Those reserves would be available to serve residents in the current ECFPD with Unification. Think of it as potentially two more fire engines available to serve residents in the Elk Creek FPD.
  • It creates a larger budget dedicated to Fire, EMS, and Wildland Services.
  • And, allows six more career firefighters to be hired, to staff an additional station.
  • A Unified command, control, and communication system to reduce response times and provide a coordinated large-scale response to wildfires.
  • A larger set of resources that can be relied upon to respond, less reliance on mutual aid
  • A larger mitigated wildland area to reduce wildland-fire risk
